Wisconsin Title I Schools of Recognition
9th Year in a Row!
MADISON - State Superintendent Tony Evers congratulated Frederic
Elementary School for being among 169 schools in the state
that received Wisconsin Title I School of Recognition honors for
the 2015-16 school year during a special March 14 ceremony at the
State Capitol in Madison.
Evers welcomed, from left: Erin Hansford, 4-year old
kindergarten teacher and Kelly Steen, Principal, to the recognition
event. During the ceremony, the state superintendent recognized
nine High-Achieving schools and 26 High-Progress schools; 11
schools earned both High-Achieving and High-Progress honors. There
were 117 Beating-the-Odds schools. Twelve schools earned a School
of Recognition award for five consecutive years.
"These awards recognize the work of students and their parents
along with teachers, school administrators, and school staff
members to break the link between poverty and low academic
achievement. These efforts will help us ensure that every student
graduates college and career ready," Evers said.
Our staff is very dedicated to helping students achieve and
excel in their education. Our environment is very positive
and we work to instill confidence in every student, said Kelly
Steen, Elementary Principal. This is the 9th year
in a row that Frederic Elementary has earned and received Wisconsin
Title I School of Recognition honors!
